DAVE MASWICK

MTV is as good a place as any to begin Dave Maswick’s story ‘cos you don¹t get to be Dave Maswick without a bit of history. As a member of the ‘80’s group Blotto you may have seen him in the video for the hit song "I Wanna Be a Lifeguard" on MTV’s very first day on the air.

Dave went on to play, write and produce with many of the finest musicians in the U.S. and Europe, all the while continuing his long association as a charter member of the seminal country metal bluegrass proponents, the Stony Creek Band.

“In the late '70s, the New York Times referred to The Stony Creek Band as "well-seasoned progressive country bluegrass". I guess this means we were ALT Country before there was an ALT."

Dave's latest solo album, The News From Here, does not pay homage to musical styles of the past; it is not an artifact but rather a collection of songs in the language spoken and understood by those who have gone through it.

Dave’s music is not a tribute, not a mash-up, not post-modern anything but rather music in a timeless style that communicates the issues that face us all in our day-to-day lives. It is not a challenge but rather an invitation to reveal and articulate the themes, triumphs and travails of adult lives.
